Aphotic Segment - The Anniversary w/ Trent Abbe
Aphotic Segment is back once again for your audio enjoyment, after a brief vacation in New York, flush with plenty of new vinyl that we’re looking forward to add to this month’s AS rotation. It’s been five years since AS first began its audio explorations and one year since we called Nancy Whiskey our newest home. As such, it comes with great honor to host our good friend, Trent Abbe, on the night of this anniversary.
Trent Abbe is the greatest example of a deejay’s deejay. His combined talents for creating the most unusual blends and making them work like butter, and also his impeccable tastes, have made him an early inspiration to Aphotic Segment. Trent was quite possibly the first deejay we ever heard mix punk, idm, techno, funk and house within the same mix, which ultimately led us to re-define the ways by which we approached the art of mix making – in that mixing is often done best when it’s not based upon showcasing a particular scene or style but rather what is good versus what is not.
This will be a night of record willy-nilly of the finest. Opening the night of anniversary festivities are resident deejays, Soren and Drew Pompa. Always free, always key!
Trent Abbe - (LiftKit Records / Detroit)
